Privacy policy
This policy explains what CallThem Marketplace (the website https://market.callthem24.com and the mobile app) collects about you, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
Who we are
CallThem Marketplace is run by CallThem (https://callthem24.com), based in Douala, Cameroon. Contact us about your data at raymond@callthem24.com or on WhatsApp +237640285880.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name and email address, and your password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form).
- Your WhatsApp number, if you add it. Sellers need one so buyers can reach them.
If you sell
- Your shop's name, description, category, town, address, map location, branches and contact numbers.
- The products you list: names, descriptions, prices, stock and photos.
Shop and product details are public: anyone can see them on the marketplace, in search engines (Google, Bing) and in AI assistants.
When you use the app
- Location (optional). If you allow it, your device's location is used to pick your town and show nearby shops. We do not keep a history of where you have been; you can always choose a town instead.
- Inquiries. Messages you send to a shop, with the product and the shop's branch.
- Activity. Products and shops you view or tap, searches, and your wishlist, linked to a random session number (and to your account if you are signed in). We use it to recommend products and to show shops anonymous visit statistics.
- How you arrived. The website or link that brought you (for example Google or WhatsApp). For visits to our public web pages we store a daily scrambled code made from your IP address and browser, not the address itself.
We do not collect your contacts, files, messages from other apps, payment details or advertising ID. There are no ads.
Why we use it
- To run the marketplace: your account, showing products near you, and putting buyers in touch with sellers.
- To improve results and recommendations, and to give sellers statistics about their shop.
- To keep the marketplace safe: handling reports of fake or wrong listings.
- To send you messages about the marketplace on WhatsApp, only if you agree to it.
Who can see it
- Sellers you contact see your inquiry and the details you choose to send (for example your WhatsApp number).
- Everyone can see public shop and product details.
- Our service providers, who process data for us and nobody else: Google Firebase (sign-in and sessions), CallThem (keeps the WhatsApp numbers list and translates product text between English and French with an AI service), and our server host.
- The authorities, only when the law requires it.
We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account we delete it, except records we must keep by law or to deal with fraud, and short-lived server logs and backups, which are overwritten within a few weeks.
Your choices and rights
- See and change your details in the app (Profile).
- Turn location off at any time in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete account. You can also ask on the web: how to delete your account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it: raymond@callthem24.com.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed. Access to our servers is restricted.
Children
The marketplace is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is important.
